Leah Pakpour creates sculpture, functional furniture, and custom woodworking through a distinctly feminine approach to material, balance, and form. Her woodworking is not based on domination of the material, but on listening to it—allowing each piece of wood to suggest its own position, weight, function, and relationship to the whole.
There is a quiet tension at the center of the work. Pakpour speaks of a desire to slow down, to rest longer, to rush less, and to experience a greater sense of freedom. That personal longing becomes structural. Individual elements are balanced before they are joined, transforming the process of construction into an act of contemplation.
This approach extends from sculptural objects to functional furniture and custom-built pieces. Whether a work is intended to be sat on, lived with, or considered as an object in space, material and function remain part of the same conversation. The resulting pieces possess both physical tension and emotional calm. They are objects about equilibrium, but also about the human need to find it.
In Pakpour’s hands, woodworking becomes less an act of building than an exploration of intuition, patience, vulnerability, function, and rest.
